I started taking a Java programming course at the local university. I’m looking forward to learning “everything java” over the next 4 months, though its been such a long time since was a student. I’ve never been a fan of classroom environments. Going at someone else’s pace, whether faster or slower than I’d prefer is just a lose/lose situation to be in. 

Today, though I was greatly interested in the material, I found myself staring at the clock ... waiting ... my brain moving faster than the professor could speak. I kept finishing his sentences in my head, answering students questions silently. Granted, it was the first day ... haha ... I’m so impatient. Can’t wait to get to the meat of things. I’ll let you know when it gets better.

I’ve been self-employed for about 10 years now. Over time I’ve developed quite a knack for teaching myself unfamiliar topics. Why then am I taking this class? Time will tell. I think there may be a great social benefit, I’d like to meet a few others that really enjoy learning Java. God knows I’ve read enough about it on my own. I must own upwards of 10 Java books, each one read about 80% of the way through. That should give me a considerable head start here.
