about me

I'm a 37'ish year old web application developer from South Portland, Maine. I love meeting fellow techies, drop me a line if you want to talk shop.

I’ve been developing web applications for some 10 years now. My routine is such that I almost always develop locally before uploading to a live server.

Through the years I’ve bought many new machines and had to tackle from scratch the installation/configuration of my development environment on each of them. Often, I loose my notes from each previous attempt and am forced to query the web for comprehensive how-to’s. No more!

The end of days …

Posted on 08/01/2006 at 04:48 AM

It won’t be much longer until life as I know it comes to an end. I’ve been in the habit of enjoying my afternoons in one of many local air conditioned coffee shops, plugging away on my laptop until there is energy enough to begin the real work day from home. Lately with the heat as high as its been, that time comes later and later in the day. Which is fine, i don’t mind working late hours whatsoever, I’m often awake till 6am.

Pulling Together My Notes

Posted on 07/31/2006 at 04:47 AM

I am currently working on documenting the setup of my development environment which currently includes Darwinports, Apache2, MySQL5, PHP5, GD2, ImageMagick and Curl on Tiger (OS X 10.4.7). I find many incomplete walkthroughs online that never fully configure my installations the way I need them. Hopefully this walkthrough will be of use to others.

A New Beginning …

You may notice this site in disarray over the next week or two. I’m new to Wordpress, its customization and blogging as a whole. However, I’m commited to getting my feet wet in all three so bare with me as I settle in and get comfortable with the software. I’m still working on customizing this excellent Fauna theme I found yesterday. Exciting stuff. Expect layout to be under constant revision.
