Do ignore the right column for now if you can, mWahahahahah!

As you can see I’m nearing the completion of my new site design. I just added the ability for you to add comments again and the layout now appears to display correctly in Exploder, Firefox and Safari.

Redesign almost done =)

Posted on 10/11/2006 at 12:11 PM

I’ve been converting my Photoshop mockup into a CSS template and then converting that into a wordpress theme. I’m about 45% finsihed with the conversion. It may not win me any awards but it will at least be more personal than the current design of the site. Here‘s the latest version of my completed CSS work. I’m pretty pleased with how its turned out. (it also validates for both xhtml and css) My goal was to design a front end that had a feel for the apps I use in my development process.

Its not often i remember to download all the pictures I’ve taken off my camera phone. I found this gem recently in a rather large batch, a picture of me with my grandfather from a few months ago.

Still looking for design input …

Posted on 08/20/2006 at 05:04 AM

Some minor tweaking to my “work-in-progress” ... I’m still looking for a better designed center column, I feel the yellow highlighting (a UI element that already exists in BBEDIT) of story titles is working well, but as you can see when a title is longer than one line of text all hell breaks loose.

Pictures of a Princess

We may be home finally, but life is still very demanding as you can imagine. There was a slight case of Jaundice that kept us from coming home on time, she needed 2 more days under a heat lamp to bring the yellow out of her skin. She’s looking great though and has fully recovered.

I promised some pictures of Ailee once we got home from the Hospital so here they are:

SHE’S HERE!!!

Posted on 08/13/2006 at 04:55 AM

After 11 hours of complicated labor, my wife gave birth to our darling daughter, Ailee Jones, weighing in at 7 lbs 14 ounces, with starlight eyes and a quivering chin thats so cute you could just die. I’ve not been to bed yet but will post pictures when my wife and I get home from the hospital. For now I need some sleep but wanted to tell the world, my joy has come, and she’s gorgeous.

Looking for design input …

I’m no where near finished with this yet but thought I would post what I’ve put together so far and get some feedback.

I do not pretend to be a designer =)

Working on a new theme

Posted on 08/08/2006 at 04:54 AM

I’ve been busy with Work lately but in my free time I’m designing a new theme for this site. I desire something a little more personal than what I have. The Fauna theme has been instrumental in getting me acquainted with the topic of Wordpress theme design, so I’m quite anxious to be starting over. I’ll post some screenshots of what I’m working on as I have them.

Darwinports, Apache2, MySQL5, PHP5 on Tiger

I’ve been developing web applications for some 10 years now. My routine is such that I almost always develop locally before uploading to a live server.

Through the years I’ve bought many new machines and had to tackle from scratch the installation/configuration of my development environment on each of them. Often, I loose my notes from each previous attempt and am forced to query the web for comprehensive how-to’s. No more!

The end of days …

Posted on 08/01/2006 at 04:48 AM

It won’t be much longer until life as I know it comes to an end. I’ve been in the habit of enjoying my afternoons in one of many local air conditioned coffee shops, plugging away on my laptop until there is energy enough to begin the real work day from home. Lately with the heat as high as its been, that time comes later and later in the day. Which is fine, i don’t mind working late hours whatsoever, I’m often awake till 6am.
